“WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER:” Dumangas core group sets series of activities in a meeting over the weekend for ‘Pagsangkap sa mga Siklista Atbp.’
“There were about 2,600 road accidents last year involving cyclists, a study by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) showed,” shared Pablo ‘Bambu’ Nava IV in the meeting at PD Monfort South covered court.
Nava added that even earlier in 2014, a daily average of between 24 and 40 accidents among two-wheeled vehicles were reported in Metro Manila alone.
Bambu Nava is president of the Federation of Iloilo Cycling Associations (FICO) and of the alumni chapter of C4 (Central Cruisers Cycling Club) of the CPU Alumni Assoc. Inc.
He spoke as resource person and one of the organizing core group of ‘Concerned Punong Barangays and Dumangasanons’ that spearheads the advocacy “Pagsangkap sa mga Siklista Atbp.”
The core group also include Brgy. Captains Joel Dima-ala of PD Monfort South who hosted the meeting, Wilfredo Cordero of Brgy. Bacong, Joebert Sanson of Brgy. Sapao, Edgar Decastillo of PD Monfort North.
Onofre Salvilla of Brgy. Tambobo, Audy Detablan of Brgy Tabucan, Rosalie Palma of Brgy. Cali, Abraham Empedrado of Brgy. Pulao, Boboy Dela Cruz of Brgy. Tamboilan, and Regie Galas of Brgy. Bantud Fabrica.
Also in the meeting were SB Member Randy ‘Butch’ Suspene, and former Congressman Pablo ‘Bebot’ Nava III.
The core group has set the first in a series of advocacy activities on March 20, 2021 where resource persons would be invited to interact with about 60 cyclist participants from the different barangays of Dumangas.
A venue for the event has yet to be determined so that social distancing protocols could be observed.
