Mayor Jerry Treñas has agreed with bikers not to wear face shields while riding along Iloilo City streets.
“I would like to reiterate my previous directive that cyclists in Iloilo City are not required to wear face shields for their own safety,” Treñas said.
Treñas made the clarification after the national Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on COVID-19 issued Resolution 88 on December 14, 2020 requiring people “outside of residence” to wear face shields.
Subsequently, IATF official and police officer Cezar Binag also reiterated that the ruling covers cyclists and joggers.
Iloilo City remains under the general community quarantine (GCQ) protocols even as new cases per day of COVID-19 have largely been kept to single digits this December.*
