Malacañang announced August 16, 2024 the appointment by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (FMJ) of Negros Occidental 3rd district representative Jose Francisco ‘Kiko’ Benitez direcror-general of the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA).
Benitez were “to assume immediately” as replacement to Suharto Mangudadato who resigned from Tesda last July, according to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).
Except for his “unheralded stint” in the Congressional commission on education (EDCOM 2) Benitez had no previous background in the field of technical and vocational education.
But the PCO cited Benitez’ experience as the chair of the House committee on housing and urban development, which gives him a “wealth of experience in education, development and public service.” /image via Jose Francisco Benitez website /
