Maria Pilar Jalandoni Lopez-Vito, a member of the Board of Directors and Vice-president of ISLA BANK, passed away last Monday, June 15, 2020. She was 71 years old.
Fondly called “Yangga” by friends and relatives, Ma. Pilar Lopez-Vito succumbed to a lingering lung cancer, a source close to the family said.
Her cremated remains will be buried at the Lopez-Vito mausoleum inside the Jaro Catholic cemetery tomorrow morning, June 18, 2020.
Yangga is survived by eldest brother Jose Manuel, also a Director of ISLA BANK, elder sister Luisa a world-renowned violinist and pianist.
Another surviving elder brother is Rafael “Paeng” Lopez-Vito, the first Congressman of Iloilo City Lone District and now Vice-chairman of ISLA BANK, and the youngest sibling Jose Maria Lopez-Vito III, Board Chairman of ISLA BANK.
Ma. Pilar is the second youngest of 7 children by the late Jose Ma. Lopez-Vito and Remedios Jalandoni Lopez-Vito.
Two other older brothers of Yangga has since been deceased: Miguel Angel and Frankie.
Ma. Pilar Lopez-Vito was crowned Queen in the 1970 Jaro “Fiesta del Nuestra Senora de la Candelaria.” She was civic-minded, a member of the Zonta Club International in Iloilo City.”*
