Koreans donate shop tools, equipment to Dumangas National High School
P1.836 MILLION ROTARY GLOBAL GRANT

Sixteen Rotarian ladies from South Korea will grace the turn-over ceremony on Friday, August 30, 2019 for a state-of-the-art automotive shop tools and equipment worth P1.836 million (US$36,000) donation to the Dumangas National High School (DNHS).

The visiting Koreans are co-donors to the global grant who come from the Rotary Club of Jinju-Baekhab headed by President Kang Songyeon and Rotary Club of Suncheon-Samsan President Park Jongeun.

Romeo Diancin Jr., Executive Secretary of the Rotary Club of Dumangas in Iloilo, Philippines told HilwayNews that like the host club there are other partners and donors to this global grant as well – the local government unit (LGU) of Dumangas, the DNHS Alumni Association, and the DNHS School Governing Council.

The tools and equipment would be used by the DNHS Senior High School Automotive Shop and is envisioned to dramatically enhance the capability of DNHS Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE).

The TLE Track in senior high school is among the innovative reforms of the K to 12 program in Philippine basic education that started in school year 2012.

Among those invited to attend the turn-over ceremony were Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., 4th District Rep. Braeden John Biron, Iloilo Schools Division Supt. Miguel Mac Aposin, Past District Governors Ronnie Gabalda and Mark Anthony Ortiz of Rotary International District 3850, and Dumangas officials headed by Mayor Ronaldo Golez.

The Rotary Club of Dumangas current set of officers are: President Agustin ‘Bebot’ Diva, Executive Secretary Romeo ‘Roming’ Diancin Jr., Vice President Rocky Nery, Club Secretary Augustus ‘Boyet’ Nobleza, Treasurer Joen Delariarte, and Auditor Ricky ‘Bambam’ Dineros.

Jasmin Golez-Ocampo, Clemente Doyo, Almar Marfito, Randy Suspeñe and Marc Defiesta are members of the Board of Directors. /jft
