GET CLEAR STATUS OF LEARNING LOSSES: education regional director Ramir Uytico bares study as schools open in August.
“I will ask the Policy, planning and research division to take the lead in our research,” Director Uytico told a virtual briefing of DepEd (Department of Education) officials in Western Visayas as reported by the government news agency PNA.
The study will draw a clear picture of learning and teaching gaps for the past two years when modular and virtual learning systems were implemented during the pandemic.
Director Uytico said it would have been difficult to conduct a study when learners were still at home. Also, they were unsure if the children and not their parents, were the ones answering the modules.
“They found out that there were smarter parents,” former Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III recently quoted a familiar anecdote about the time that home modular and virtual classes were held.
