FORGET THE PAST, BUT NEVER YOUR FACE MASK: more than a year that the pandemic hit, the public should by now have realized that proper wearing of a face mask is the basic protection against COVID-19.
Iloilo governor Arthur Defensor Jr. told a media briefing at the capitol on May 7 that face masks are important, as contact tracing conducted among COVID-19 cases in the province shows that many positive patients came from social gatherings where people removed their face masks.
“The most important of all is the face mask,” Defensor said to reduce the number of daily infections.
Data from the Provincial health office showed that as of May 7, Iloilo has 6,215 total confirmed cases, 297 of these are active cases, with 5,743 recoveries, and 175 recorded deaths.
