As new cases of COVID-19 decline, Iloilo City could easily revert to the “modified general community quarantine (MGCQ)” next week.
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas told a media interview yesterday that “there were even days when new cases have dropped to single digits.”
Malacanang is set to announce this week the quarantine protocols for December, based on the recommendations of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the emerging infectious disease.
Treñas noted the city’s success to “our holistic approach to COVID-19 response, the media’s help in public information and education, fast results on testing, and strict adherence to quarantine protocols.”
Meanwhile Jeck Conlu the city’s COVID-19 task force spokesman announced that the Uswag molecular laboratory in San Pedro, Molo would begin testing for COVID-19 starting today, November 25.
The lab has a capacity to test some 300 specimens per day. Results could be out between 24 and 48 hours, Conlu said.*
